Apple watch function has emergency dispatchers a little frustrated

The Apple watch series 4 has a feature that is designed to help save lives. When you fall the watch will detect this and alert emergency dispatchers within a minute if you are motionless.

The watch gives you two options "Emergency SOS" or "I fell, but I'm OK". Many emergency call centers are getting accidental calls from skiers and snowboarders.

Nonie McCandless, Training and Admin supervisor with the Douglas County Emergency Communications Center says, “July 1st of 2018 until now we've had approximately twenty-nine 911 calls. During those calls the typical activity someone is doing when they accidentally call 911 via their watch is there setting up their new watch or they are doing a sport of some kind either skiing or hiking”.

McCandless advises anyone who has the watch to understand all of its functions before using it.
