80-year-old woman, juvenile identified as victims of deadly Douglas County crash
An 80-year-old Gardnerville woman and a juvenile died as a result of a two-vehicle crash Wednesday afternoon on a highway south of Minden, according to Nevada Highway Patrol.
The crash was reported just after 3:20 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 18, at the intersection of State Route 88 and Centerville Lane.
Troopers learned a 2002 Suzuki Grand Vitara SUV was heading east on Centerville, while a 2005 Kenworth mixer truck was driving north on Highway 88 approaching the intersection with Centerville.
NHP says the Suzuki pulled out to cross Highway 88, coming into the path of the truck. The driver of the truck tried to brake but couldn't avoid hitting the right side of the SUV.
The passenger in the SUV, identified only as a juvenile, succumbed to their injuries from the crash. The driver, identified as Beverly Louise Phillips of Gardnerville, was taken via Care Flight to Renown in Reno, where she succumbed to her injuries as well.
