RENO, Nev. (News 4 & Fox 11) -- Reno Police arrested a 51-year-old Reno man on suspicion of attempted murder and multiple assaults on a woman near downtown Reno on September 5, 2018.
According to police, Victor Cobos was charged with attempted murder, two counts of sexual assault, robbery, three counts false imprisonment, two counts battery with intent to commit sexual assault, battery by strangulation and battery causing substantial bodily harm.
Police say it happened about 10:30 p.m. when Cobos picked up an adult female in the downtown area.
He then drove to a secluded area where Cobos handcuffed the victim, beat her and sexually assaulted her.
After assaulting the victim for a couple hours, police say Cobos drove to a store and the victim was able to escape by alerting an employee of what had occurred.
When confronted, Cobos then fled in his vehicle.
The following day, police say Cobos located and assaulted two more women. The first was around 6 p.m. when he drove the victim to a similar location where he sexually assaulted her. The victim jumped out of the vehicle when the doors were unlocked.
A physical fight ensued during which time the victim was able to escaped to a nearby home and alert the residents. A short time later the defendant encountered the third victim. He handcuffed her and attempted to sexually assault her.
The victim refused and fought with Cobos while still handcuffed. Cobos then began beating the victim about the face and head with a large rock until a citizen drove up in a vehicle and scared the defendant off.
On September 6, detectives obtained an arrest warrant for the defendant who was located in California and arrested.
He has since been transported back to Washoe County and booked on additional charges.
