4 free COVID-19 testing locations opening across Washoe County

With a surge in COVID-19 cases across the country, there's an increased demand for testing including here in Washoe County.

Starting on Wednesday, Jan. 5, four free COVID-19 testing sites are opening for residents across the Truckee Meadows.

The testing locations, which don't require appointments, will be open seven days a week from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

The locations include:

• Bartley Ranch Regional Park, 6000 Bartley Ranch Rd, Reno
• Eagle Canyon Park, 400 Eagle Canyon Drive, Spanish Springs
• South Valleys Regional Park, 15650 Wedge Pkwy, Reno
• North Valleys Regional Park, 8085 Silver Lake Rd, Reno

The testing includes both a rapid antigen test (results in one hour) and a PCR test (results in 47-72 hours). Up to 1,600 people per day can get a test - 400 at each location.

The testing is being performed by North Shore Clinical Labs, which is also conducting testing for the Washoe County School District, with no announced end date.
