Target shooting causes Chimney Fire burning north of Sun Valley

Multiple crews are on the scene of a 184-acre brush fire between Sun Valley and Golden Valley on Thursday, Sept. 20.

According to the BLM, the Chimney Fire started about 12:15 p.m. that day and has burned at least 184 acres with 75 percent containment as of Friday, September 21.

According to TMFPD, forward progress has stopped at this time.

The fire is expected to be fully contained by 1:00 p.m. on Friday, September 21.

The fire is not currently threatening any structures.

The cause of the fire has been determined to be by target shooting.
