McQueen High School teacher honored with Excellence in Education Award
A teacher at McQueen High School is proving there are no limits when it comes to supporting her students, and this month she is News 4's Excellence in Education Award winner!
Reading a nomination letter from one of her student's parents, evening anchor Shelby Sheehan surprised Debbie Earl during her class on Tuesday.
Earl has taught special education for 13 years in the Washoe County School District.
Parents say she is tireless in her efforts to help students succeed.
She is not only dedicated in her classroom but communicates with her students' other teachers to make sure they are getting their assignments done.
Earl says ever since she was a special education aide, before getting her teaching credential, she knew special education was where she wanted to be.
"Just seeing the progress that they all make and just seeing them take that next step. Someone may have told them that they couldn't do something, and we find out they are able to achieve that goal; that is what makes it amazing," said Earl.
Congratulations to Mrs. Earl, News 4's Excellence in Education Award winner!
