Republicans outpacing Democratic turnout so far on Election Day in Washoe County

7:00 p.m. Election Day update

As of 7 p.m. on Election Day, 36,306 Washoe County voters had cast their ballot. The turnout figure does not include people who are still waiting in line.

Republicans have far outpaced Democrats in ballots cast in person on Election Day. Here is the party breakdown of the people who had voted in person before 7 p.m.

  • 8,317 Democrats
  • 17,696 Republicans
  • 10,293 Nonpartisan/other

Interim registrar of voters Jamie Rodriguez said the county received 6,000 mail ballots Tuesday. They estimate that roughly 10,000 mail ballots were dropped off at various drop boxes on Election Day. Those 16,000 mail ballots will not be counted or included in the forthcoming batch of results.

The 36,306 in-person Election Day votes brings total reported turnout to 168,606, or 55% of the electorate.

(The registrar's office doesn't release any results until the last vote in the state of Nevada has cast their ballot)

3:00 p.m. Election Day update

The trend of registered Republicans outpacing registered Democrats in Election Day turnout continued with the country registrar's 3 p.m. update.

As of 3 p.m., 5,095 Democrats, 12,233 Republicans and 6,238 Nonpartisans and others have voted. Total Election Day turnout is 23,566, though that does not include people who have dropped mail ballots off at drop boxes.

Total turnout so far for the 2022 midterm election is around 51%.

12:00 p.m. Election Day update

Registered Republicans continue to outvote registered Democrats in Election Day vote, according to the county registrar's noon update.

As of noon, 2,935 Democrats, 7,892 Republicans, and 3,658 Nonpartisans and others have voted. Total Election Day turnout is 14,485.

Total turnout so far for the 2022 midterm election is around 48%.

Election Day turnout figures do not include the number of mail ballots dropped off at vote center drop boxes.

9:00 a.m. Election Day update

5,292 Washoe County voters cast their ballot in the first two hours of in-person Election Day voting, according to the Washoe County registrar of voters office.

Over 1,800 more Republicans than Democrats voted in the first two hours of Election Day, already wiping out Democrats' lead in ballots returned so far.

As of 9:00 a.m., registered Republicans have cast 171 more votes than registered Democrats in the 2022 general election, including early voting and mail ballots.

Total turnout is now 137,592 or 45%.
