RENO, Nev. (News 4 & Fox 11) — A payment processing company called Gratis Gives is giving back to nonprofits and helping small businesses save money by lowering credit card fees.
One of the company's partnering merchants, Innovate U, says working together is a win-win because not only do they get to give back a little at a time, but they are also saving money and seeing an increase in staff members getting involved in the community.
"One of the added bonuses we never realized would come out of Gratis Gives is, by talking to that practice or that company, people realized how easy it is to get involved, so we've seen an uptick in staff members at those locations volunteering, becoming board members, and giving back on their own hours," said Innovate U Owner, Chelsea Dethmers.
While Gratis Gives' payment process involves donating money in small amounts from each credit card purchase, Gratis Gives Owner, Kirk Allaire says the numbers can really add up.
“From August of 2018 to May of 2020, we’ve given back over $50,000 and this May in about two and a half weeks from now, we will be handing out money from this year and we will all get to find out how much that is," Allaire said.
The final total will be announced at their annual gala this month. For more information on Gratis Gives, you can head to their website.
