Elmcrest student named Class Act Award Winner

A 4th grade student at Elmcrest Elementary School is making an impact on her school in more ways than one and this month she is News Four's Class Act Award Winner!

Evening anchor Shelby Sheehan surprised Alexa Espinosa-Cerritos during a school assembly in front of a packed house recently.

She is a "Dragon Manager", part of a group of students who apply to be leaders at school.

The managers help younger students on the playground and participate in some decision making with staff.

In her classroom she is a leader too, helping peers with academic or social issues.

Her principal says she's always asking how she can contribute and makes Elmcrest a better school because of it.

As part of her award, Alexa will have 500 extra dollars for her college savings thanks to Marshall Realty and tickets to go see the Reno Aces.

Congratulations to Alexa Espinosa-Cerritos, News Four's Class Act Award Winner.
