Winter storm watch canceled for Sierra, Lake Tahoe area

The Winter Storm Watch in effect for the Sierra Nevada mountains and Lake Tahoe Basin has been canceled, but conditions may still worsen for Sierra passes before the end of the weekend.

Heavy snow is possible with gusty winds. Plan on difficult travel conditions on all mountain passes with significant reductions in visibility possible. Snowfall brought chain controls to motorists traveling over Donner Summit and Mt. Rose on Saturday morning.

As of 10 a.m. Sunday, chains are are only required on Mt. Rose Highway in Nevada.
