News 4-Fox 11 Weather: Winter storm brings chain controls, school closures
A winter storm has brought plenty of snow to the Sierra and even parts of Reno to start the new year.
Storms continue as we move through this week, with Thursday being one of the heaviest moisture producers.
In fact, preliminary snow totals from Wednesday and Thursday show more than 2 feet of snow at some Reno-Tahoe area ski resorts, according to the National Weather Service in Reno.
In addition, the Sierra Avalanche Center issued a "moderate" avalanche advisory for the Greater Lake Tahoe Area until 7 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 7.
