Expect less sand space at Tahoe beaches this summer
RENO, Nev. (News 4 & Fox 11) —
As temperatures begin to climb, you may be wanting to head to the beach — but you can expect most locations to be a little more crowded than you may be used to.
Lake Tahoe water levels are less than half a foot away from their maximum water level, meaning some beaches have lost multiple feet of sand space.
Water officials say this is really a good thing though — this is where the lake should be. It just may seem a little bit different because it was below normal for so long.
They plan to release some water over the coming weeks to make room for snowmelt, but you can expect the water level, and the beach size, to stay mostly the same.
