Connect With Olivia DeGennaro

Olivia DeGennaro joined the News 4 team as a reporter and producer in October 2015.

A recent Cal Poly graduate, Olivia moved to Reno from San Luis Obispo, a small town on the Central Coast of California. While attending college, she worked at the local NBC affiliate as a weekend news producer.

Working weekends was a whirlwind introduction to local news, as she and just four other people put three shows on the air each Saturday and Sunday. Her experience producing on the weekends at KSBY News in San Luis Obispo has made the transition to working in Reno an easy one.

After two months producing newscasts behind the scenes on the weekends, Olivia was promoted to Weekend Anchor in January 2016. She's thankful for the opportunity to not only write your local news stories every weekend, but now to also deliver them into homes across Northern Nevada.

You'll see Olivia on weekdays as well, reporting on air for News 4. While this is her first job in front of the camera, the California native has always had a passion for writing and public speaking. In college, she regularly reported for Cal Poly's on-campus news station, eventually becoming the Broadcast News Director for Mustang News. One of the highlights of her college journalism career was interviewing Apple founder Steve Wozniak as he visited a local high school robotics club.

Olivia is new to the Biggest Little City, but not to the area. She grew up in Fair Oaks, a suburb of Sacramento, and visited Reno frequently as a child. Fun fact: Olivia's first home was right around the corner from Apple Hill, and caramel apples are her favorite treat to this day.

When Olivia is not working, she's playing with her Boston Terrier puppy, Maurice or working on DIY projects around the house. She is also excited to take her backpacking gear into the beautiful wilderness surrounding Reno and Tahoe.

Olivia wants to connect with the community and tell your stories. You can get in touch with her via email, Facebook or Twitter.
