Kristen joined the News 4-Fox 11 team in October 2017 as a multimedia journalist. She’s very excited to begin her professional journalism career in the Biggest Little City after graduating from Syracuse University with her master’s degree in Broadcast and Digital Journalism.
The Atlanta native’s love for the arts began as a child. At age 9, she boldly announced to her mother, “I want to be Annie!” in her school’s musical. When she was cast in that role, she was hooked. She went on to act in musicals at her performing arts high school and local theatre. Inquisitive by nature, Kristen liked to peel away the layers of the characters she played and enjoyed telling their stories.
When she went off to college, Kristen majored in Theatre at Florida State University. It was there that she discovered a second love for telling people’s stories when she began reporting for Tallahassee’s online sports website, Franchise Sports. Her passion for journalism and storytelling took off. Kristen added the Media/Communication Studies major to her bachelor’s degree and gained experience interning for Tallahassee’s WCTV and reporting for Seminole Showcase and Seminole Sports Magazine.
While a graduate student Kristen honed her craft as an intern at WAER, as well as a reporter, anchor, and producer for Syracuse University’s own NCC News. She also interned as a stringer reporter for Salt Lake City’s KTVX in Washington D.C. As the political connection to the capitol, she reported on important issues such as healthcare reform and had the opportunity to interview Senator Orrin Hatch.
Kristen is very passionate about reporting on important, meaningful and interesting stories. When she’s not reporting, she enjoys going to the theatre, attending sporting events and exploring new restaurants. Kristen’s thrilled to be working in northern Nevada and looks forward to taking advantage of the area’s beautiful parks. She’s super excited about skiing for the first time this winter!
