Karsen joined the News 4-Fox 11 team in September of 2017 as a morning reporter. He’s excited to be a part of the team in his first career job after graduate school.
He graduated with a Master’s degree in Sports Journalism in August of 2017 from the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism at Arizona State University. Before that he received his Bachelor’s degree in Journalism and Media Communication from Colorado State University in 2016.
During his time at Arizona State University, he worked for the Phoenix Suns as a communications specialist and reported for the Cronkite Sports Bureau in Los Angeles during the summer. In California he worked for Pac-12 Network at the conference’s media days and reported on the Los Angeles Angels.
Karsen’s broadcasting career began at Colorado State University where he worked as a reporter, anchor and producer for Campus Television, the school’s news station.
He’s interned at WOAI News 4 San Antonio and worked with the investigative team on various enterprise and long form stories. Later during his senior year of college he was an intern at KDVR Fox 31 Denver, working with the news and investigative teams.
Born in Missouri, he moved to Colorado when he was 5 and lived there for 17 years. Karsen grew up in Loveland, CO where he picked up skiing and a love for the outdoors. He stays active by working out and playing basketball, and can’t wait to take advantage of the area’s world-class ski resorts.
Karsen looks forward to his time in Reno and wants to learn as much as possible about the area.
