Sacramento native Diane Thao joined the News 4 team as a reporter in August 2016. Diane is excited to be living in the Biggest Little City after spending so much time here on vacation.
She spent a year reporting in the cold north -- Fargo, North Dakota. There, she got to experience the 'Midwest life', complete with ice fishing and surviving weather that hits below zero!
Diane is glad to be back on the west coast near friends and family. Her dad says he always thought she would be a reporter because she was always curious and talkative. She is passionate about hearing people's stories. She became a journalist to be a voice for those voiceless.
Diane grew up in the City of Trees, but went to college in the Bay Area. She is a BECA alum from San Francisco State University. There, she learned the art and craft of broadcast journalism.
In her free time, Diane likes to hang out with her soul mate Chewy, who she says is the most adorable dog. She also enjoys hiking and exploring the city. Fun facts: she is a foodie, big Harry Potter nerd and Sims player. If you have any recommendations on places to eat or dog-friendly things to do in town, let her know.
