Reno Aces, Nevada teams send gear to help Hurricane Harvey victims
The Reno Aces and Nevada basketball and baseball teams are providing gear for those affected by Hurricane Harvey after a coaches put out a call for donations.
Todd Whitting and Kelvin Sampson, head coaches of the University of Houston's baseball and basketball teams, respectively, asked programs across the nation and all levels to send 20 shirts and 10 pairs of shoes.
"Please send what you can," Whitting wrote in a letter posted to Twitter. "Our team will make sure these items are delivered to those in need."
Nevada men's basketball coach Eric Musselman said in a tweet that the Wolf Pack's package was on the way to Houston.
The Reno Aces and Nevada baseball team also said in tweets that their gear was heading to the university.
The Reno Bighorns are collecting donations, which will then go to the American Red Cross.
Reno 1868 players Brent Richards and Antoine Hoppenot and the organization Tackling Consent are also encouraging donations for ghcf.org.
