Former Nevada assistant coach Dave Rice hired by Washington
The University of Washington announced this morning that former Nevada assistant coach Dave Rice has been added to their men's basketball coaching staff.
“Dave is a proven winner,” said Washington head coach Mike Hopkins in a release by the university. “He has extensive coaching experience, not only as an assistant but as a head coach as well, and will be a huge asset to our program. Everywhere he has been has seen unprecedented success and he has also had a huge impact on the student-athletes he has worked with both on and off the court. He’s succeeded at a high level and has seen firsthand what it takes to put together a strong group that can make a run in the postseason. We’re thrilled to have him on staff and know that he will fit into the Husky family immediately.”
Rice spent the 2016-2017 season as an assistant coach at the University of Nevada after being let go by UNLV. Nevada went 28-7 overall and won the Mountain West Conference regular season and tournament titles, earning a bid to the NCAA tournament for the first time since the 2006-2007 season.
