Nevada men's basketball defeats Boise State to remain atop the Mountain West
RENO, Nev. —
It came down to the final minute, but Nevada was able to defeat Boise State 74-68 to achieve a perfect 7-0 record in conference.
Caleb Martin scored 26 and Jordan Caroline poured in 22 in the win. Caroline had a double-double with 13 rebounds as well. It was his eighth double-double of the season. Rounding out the Nevada players in double figures was Kendall Stephens with 11.
The Pack has now won 15 in a row at home and 13 in a row in the Mountain West.
The most notable stat of the night was the Pack's three-point defense, holding Boise State to 3-of-21 shooting from behind the arc. Three made threes ties a season-low for Boise State, who came into the contest averaging ten 3's per game.
The Mountain West's leading scorer, Boise State's Chandler Hutchinson, netted 27 points tonight, but the Pack held Boise State's second leading scorer Justinian Jessup to just two points on 1-of-7 shooting.
The Pack also had a superb night from the free throw line, shooting 85.7 percent on 17-of-20 shooting.
