Isenberg earns Pack’s first Mountain West weekly award of the season
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. —
After guiding the Nevada softball team to a 4-1 record this past weekend, senior McKenna Isenberg has been named the Mountain West Pitcher of the Week for games played through Sunday, March 5. In the three games she appeared in, Isenberg went a perfect 3-0, including a victory to help spark the Pack’s historic comeback over No. 17 Utah.
“McKenna has pitched very well all season,” head coach Josh Taylor said. “She has really stepped up in a leadership role for our entire pitching staff and I am excited to see her pitch well for the entire season.”
In just 15 innings pitched, Isenberg struck out a total of 24 batters, which helped lead her to a 1.40 ERA in this weekend’s games. Against No. 17 Utah, Isenberg came out of the bullpen to pitch four innings of relief, where she produced seven of the final 12 outs by herself, via strikeout.
On the season, the Tempe, Ariz. native has posted a 7-2 record and tossed five complete games to go along with her 3.13 ERA. Isenberg is looked up as one of the most difficult pitchers to hit off of in the nation as her 71 strikeouts lead the conference and rank No. 24 for most punchouts in the country.
Isenberg and the Pack will be back on the field Wednesday, March 8 as the team travels to Sacramento, Calif. and takes on Sacramento State in double-header matchup. First-pitch for the opening contest is slated for 1 p.m. PT.
