Front-runner emerges in Wolf Pack quarterback battle

Alabama transfer David Cornwell runs Nevada's offense in a scrimmage at Wolf Pack Park

Heading into spring camp, the Pack football team said they wanted to have a quarterback in place by the end of their 15 practices. It's been a battle between the incumbent, Ty Gangi, and Alabama transfer David Cornwell.

According to Head Coach Jay Norvell, it appears Cornwell is starting to move into the lead.

"David has kind of separated himself a little bit in the last two weeks and started to get more reps and feel more comfortable in that first unit," Norvell said.

The first-year head coach also called the team's scrimmage this morning "by far the best of spring."

Spring ball wraps next weekend at Mackay Stadium with the annual Silver & Blue Game.
