Cody Martin emerging as Nevada's go-to defender

Wolf Pack forward Cody Martin leads the team in blocks and steals through the first six games of the season{ }

Nevada has gotten off to their best start in a decade (6-0), and a big reason has been a much improved defense. The leader of that group has been NC State transfer Cody Martin, who has been given the assignment to guard the opposing team's best player - regardless of position.

Martin has flourished in that role, leading the team in both blocks (11) and steals (13) in addition to many other attributes that don't show up in the box score.

Head Coach Eric Musselman had high praise for Martin during his mid-week press conference.

Up next the Pack will take on Illinois State on Wednesday as they look to match the best start for the program since the 2006-7 season when they go for their seventh straight win to start the year. The game is part of the Mountain West-Missouri Valley Challenge. Tip is set for 7 p.m. from Lawlor Events Center.
