#28 Nevada opens series with 15-2 rout of New Mexico
Reno, Nev. (News 4 & Fox 11) —
The nationally-ranked Wolf Pack asserted their dominance over usual Mountain West power New Mexico in a 15-2 blowout to open a three-game series at Don Weir Field on Friday night.
Nevada, ranked 28th in the latest College Baseball Newspaper Top 30, continues to hold down the top spot in the conference with a 12-4 mark in the Mountain West play. The Lobos, who have won five of the last seven Mountain West regular season titles, have now lost seven in a row.
All nine batters in the Pack order recorded at least one hit led by Wes Hatten who went 4-for-5. Senior hurler Mark Nowaczewski (4-2) was dominant allowing just two runs and three hits over seven strong innings to collect the win.
The series continues Saturday with a 4 p.m. first pitch, with the series wrapping on Sunday at 11 a.m.
