American Century Championship breaks attendance record for 2016 tourney
NBA superstar Stephen Curry and actor/singer Justin Timberlake helped the American Century Championship celebrity golf tournament break its all-time attendance record.
More than 47,000 people attended the week-long 2016 tournament, according to a spokesperson.
More than 18,000 people attended on Sunday for the final round to see Mark Mulder emerge victorious among the field of stars and athletes, setting a single-day record.
Concession sales went up as a result as well, improving by 40 percent compared to 2015's numbers, the statement reads.
Organizers estimate the tournament brought an economic impact of $10-12 million to the South Lake Tahoe area.
