Ask Joe: What's with all the construction equipment being stored by Robb Drive on-ramp?
What's going on up at Robb Drive and Interstate 80? That's our Ask Joe question for Thursday.
Shelby Sheehan wants to know why there are a bunch of construction materials stacked up inside the Robb Drive on-ramp to Interstate 80 up in Northwest Reno?
Here's what I found out:
Shelby took a couple of photos on her way in to work and there is a lot of construction equipment and supplies being stored there right in plain view. So what is going on? I checked with NDOT about this and they tell me that empty area inside the on-ramp is being used as a staging area for equipment, signs, barrels and cones for an I-80 repaving project.
The area that will be re-paved is a twelve mile stretch of I-80 between Keystone Avenue and the Stateline. The project is just getting started and should be finished in the fall of 2019.
Meg Ragonese with NDOT says the road work is only taking place overnight, between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. Crews will be working at night to avoid disrupting traffic too much, and during the day they'll be storing that equipment inside the Robb Drive on-ramp area.
