Four Utah officers burned after trying to save man who set himself on fire at gas station
UPDATE: According to police, an individual attempted to commit suicide by lighting themselves on fire in the bathroom at a Chevron gas station near 320 West 200 North in Kaysville.
Officers tried to restrain the male to get a lighter from his hand, but the male then ignited the gasoline with the lighter. The man and several officers were injured.
"Our thoughts and prayers go out to all those injured. We appreciate your patience as we attempt to contact the loved ones of all those injured in this incident," Kaysville Police said in a press release.
The man was taken by helicopter to the hospital with severe burn injuries. Four officers were also taken by ambulance to local hospitals with varying degrees of injuries.
Officials report one officer has been checked out and released from the hospital.
