WCSD could have preliminary offer for Wildcreek High School land this month
RENO, Nev. (News 4 & Fox 11) —
Later this month, the Washoe County School District could make a preliminary offer to buy the land needed to build Wildcreek High School.
At a Wildcreek town hall Thursday night, WCSD chief operating officer Pete Etchart said the offer could come at a joint meeting on December 12.
"We'll be making kind of a preliminary offer, term sheet, of what the deal structure could look like for us to purchase a part of the Wildcreek Golf Course for us to build a new school," Etchart said.
Etchart said if the preliminary offer is approved, the WCSD Board of Trustees could start approving design contracts at their regular meeting that afternoon.
If all goes according to plan, the district would break ground on the site in December 2018.
WCSD would purchase roughly 75 acres of the 212-acre golf course to build the new high school.
The exact location of the high school on the golf course site is still undecided, but Etchart hinted Thursday the district would likely not build on the 9-hole executive course on the corner of Sullivan Lane and McCarran Boulevard.
