WCSD board to consider renewing superintendent Traci Davis' contract on Tuesday
RENO, Nev. (News 4 & Fox 11) —
After three years at the helm of the Washoe County School District, the school board is scheduled to consider extending superintendent Traci Davis' contract at Tuesday's regular meeting.
Davis' contract is set to expire on June 30, 2018, but the Board of Trustees could decide to pursue negotiating a new contract.
In November, board members overruled the results of their most recent performance review, which initially rated her "minimally effective" or "emerging." By a 4-2 vote, trustees changed their rating to "accomplished."
Davis became WCSD's deputy superintendent in September 2012 before being appointed interim superintendent in October 2014. Her three-year superintendent contract started on July 10, 2015.
During her tenure, WCSD's graduation rates have improved every year. In 2017, the graduation rate was 84 percent, the highest rate ever for the district.
