Special Olympics Nevada hosts annual Polar Plunge

Special Olympics Nevada is hosting their annual South Lake Tahoe Polar Plunge on Saturday, Mar. 18.

The plunge will feature a full weekend of events and activities in the icy waters of Tahoe at Zephyr Cove.

The "space odyssesy" themed Polar Plunge features Special Olympics supporters raising $100 each to take a chilly run into Lake Tahoe for charity.

As of Mar. 17, nearly 400 registered plungers had raised more than $130,000 for Special Olympics.

The party will continue on Sunday morning with snowshoe races beginning at 9:30 a.m. at the Beach Retreat and Lodge. All registered plungers are invited to attend free of charge and guests are able to register online.
