SPCA Rescue dog to be named mayor of Reno for a day
Reno will soon have their first ever four legged mayor.
Officials from the SPCA of Northern Nevada announced Tuesday that one of their rescued dogs will be named the mayor of Reno for a day.
Everett the Newfoundland/Lab mix, who was adopted two years ago from he SPCA of Northern Nevada, will assume the role on Thursday, Feb. 11. Reno Mayor Hillary Schieve will read an official proclamation at noon, naming Everett the mayor at the City Council Chambers. Visitors are welcome.
The furry mayor will then participate in a photo shoot at various Reno mid-town landmarks, escorted by Reno Tahoe Limousine.
Upon completion of his tasks, Everett will receive his retirement package -- a dog bed, bowl, gift basket, and 60 pound bag of dog food -- from the Executive Director for the SPCA of Northern Nevada.
Mayor-elect Everett won the prize after his adopted parents attended the SPCA's annual charity event "An Affur to Remember" and were the high bidders on this unique prize.
