South Lake Tahoe police officer accused of aiding gang members, drug traffickers

      SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. (KRNV & -- Johnny Poland, a South Lake Tahoe police officer, was arrested this morning accused of helping out gang members and drug traffickers by using his position to influence witnesses and asking witnesses to tamper with evidence.

      FBI agents arrested Poland at the South Lake Tahoe Police Department on five counts of witness tampering.

      According to court documents, Poland was caught up in a love triangle with a gang member's girlfriend. He's also being accused of having sex with underage girls.

      The El Dorado County District Attorney is also reviewing the case.
