Lyon County man arrested in connection to murder of a family of 3 in Silver Springs
A man has been arrested for the deaths of a woman and her parents last Saturday in Silver Springs, according to the Lyon County Sheriff's Office.
Authorities say 48-year-old Scott Baskette has been arrested for the deaths of Rebecca Driver, Frank Evans, and Coral Evans on Saturday, Oct. 7, 2017.
Baskette is a former boyfriend of Rebecca Driver, the sheriff's office says, and the two had separated four weeks ago after a 12-year relationship.
According to law enforcement, Driver was discovered unconscious by her children, who made the 9-1-1 call to the Lyon County Sheriff's Office, and attempted to administer CPR to their mother.
When deputies arrived on scene, she was already deceased. During the course of the investigation, deputies noted suspicious circumstances involved in the cause of death, and detectives were brought into the case, according authorities.
Later in the evening of Oct. 7, deputies went to the home of Driver's parents, Frank and Coral Evans, in Silver Springs to make a next-of-kin notification. When police arrived on the scene of the house on E. Third St. they discovered evidence that led them to believe the family could be in danger and immediately entered the home to investigate. Once inside the residence, deputies found the couple dead as a result of gunshot wounds.
Driver leaves behind four children, ages 25, 18, 16, and 14.
The Lyon County Sheriff's Office worked with the Department of Public Safety Investigation Division and the Washoe County Sheriff's Office Forensic Science Division on multiple leads. After careful analysis, the collected evidence and interviews pointed to Baskette and the subsequent arrest.
The 48-year-old was taken into custody by the Humboldt County Sheriff's Office on Tuesday, Oct. 10, with support from Nevada's DPS Investigations Division. He is being held at a detention facility in Eureka, California pending extradition to Nevada.
