Shootout in Sparks apartment complex

      Reno, NV (KRNV & Police are reporting that early this morning in Sparks two men engaged in a "gun battle" in an apartment complex on South Los Altos Parkway.

      According to Sparks PD, at around 7:53 a.m. police dispatch received several calls reporting shots fired at the Bristol Bay Apartments on 5300 South Los Altos Parkway.

      Police report that in the incident, a resident of the complex had left his garage when a man attempted to run the resident over with a vehicle. Both men then drew guns, and began shooting. Police say that in total, roughly 20 shots were fire.

      The driver of the vehicle was shot in the chest, the apartment resident was not hurt. The resident then ran up a nearby hill to escape the driver. The driver briefly chased the resident on foot, before returning to his vehicle to flee the scene of the crime. He was later found at the VA hospital, being treated for non life threatening injuries. He was then taken to Renown for additional treatment.

      Police say that they believe the two men knew each other and had similar, smaller fights in the past. The resident of the apartment complex had an active restraining order against the driver of the vehicle.
