Reno boy honored for heroic efforts protecting a young girl from being victimized
RENO, Nev. (News 4 & Fox 11) —
A 13-year-old Reno boy was honored at the city council meeting on Wednesday for stopping an elderly man from touching a young girl at a local restaurant earlier this year.
Simon Meiners was eating dinner with his family at a local Round Table in February when he noticed a young girl who was unattended and engaging in a conversation with an older man in the eatery.
Meiners says the man placed his hand on the girl's back and started rubbing towards her buttock. The 13-year-old felt compelled to step in and stop the man from going any further.
Reno Police Chief Jason Soto presented the Certificate of Commendation to Meiners and his family for his heroic efforts at the council meeting on May 23.
