Pony Express Re-Ride to make hand-off in Carson City

A Pony Express re-ride will follow the same trail used in the 19th century to deliver mail (MGN)

A "re-ride" of the famed Pony Express is due to come through Carson City on Thursday, June 16.

According to the Eagle Mountain Trading Post, a handoff is scheduled for 2 p.m. at Curry and Second streets, though the exact timing depends on the riders.

A two-hour event is also planned for the hand-off, with music and entertainment to celebrate the occasion.

The Eagle Mountain Trading Post was built in 1860, the same year the Pony Express started.

The Pony Express re-ride starts in Sacramento and makes its way to St. Joseph, Missouri.
