Police: Man arrested two months after fatal hit-and-run crash near downtown Reno
RENO, Nev. (News 4 & Fox 11) —
Police have arrested a man nearly two months after a fatal hit-and-run crash near downtown Reno, according to the Reno Police Department.
Sgt. Joe Lever says on Sunday, January 21 shortly before 5 a.m. police and medical personnel responded to the intersection of 6th Street and Valley Road on the report of a person down in the roadway.
When police arrived on scene, they located a man in the street who suffered severe head and facial injuries.
The male, who was later identified as Jerry Vanlaar of Reno, was transported to the hospital for his injuries.
Vanlaar died from his injuries he sustained on February 25.
As a result of information received from the public, police located and arrested 43-year-old Adam Beam on a felony charge of failing to stop at the scene of a crash causing death.
During the arrest, investigators located evidence which additionally tied Beam and his vehicle to the deadly crash.
