Police: 1 person found with gunshot wound at 9th & Sutro in Reno

One person has been taken to a hospital with a gunshot wound after he was found in the area of 9th and Sutro streets in Reno, according to an officer on scene.

Police received a report of a shooting at about 4:45 p.m. Friday in the area of 9th and Spokane streets. They arrived to the intersection at Sutro to find the victim, described as an adult male, with a single wound in his upper body.

The victim was taken to a hospital, and his injuries were considered non-life-threatening as of Friday night, Sgt. Paul Sifre said in a statement.

Police said they do not have a suspect description, and the person or persons responsible remain at large.

Witnesses described seeing a group of people run from the scene, but officers do not know if they were involved or just frightened.

The regional gang unit responded as well, but authorities do not know if the shooting is gang-related.
