NV Energy hosts the Energize Compassion Coat and Luggage Drive

NV Energy hosts the Energize Compassion Coat and Luggage Drive from Monday, Oct. 24 to Wednesday, Oct. 26.

NV Energy invites the community to drop-off new or gently used coats and luggage at the office located at 6100 Neil Rd. in Reno between Monday, Oct. 24 & Wednesday, Oct. 26 from 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Winter is fast approaching, which means it is time to start bundling up for the cold temperatures. There are many men, women and children in our community who don’t have a coat to keep them warm and there are children who are taken out of their homes without a way to carry their basic items. Recognizing this need, NV Energy is hosting the Energize Compassion Coat and Luggage drive, benefiting Washoe Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) and the Good Shepherd Clothes Closet.\

The Good Shepherd’s Clothes Closet needs coats of all sizes for men, women and children, however is most in need of heavy coats for men. The Washoe CASA Foundation needs luggage for children of all age, which will help the children move at a moment notice.

The Good Shepherd’s Clothes Closet is a community based non-profit organization that works with nearly 170 referring agencies throughout northern Nevada to provide vouchers to those in need. Clients with vouchers are given the opportunity to “shop” once every 30 days and are never charged for any items.

The Washoe CASA Foundation provides volunteer training as well as support for the over 900 abused and neglected children currently in the Washoe County CASA program. These children face multiple relocations to unfamiliar homes.
