NHP: Traffic stop in Fallon leads to seizure of 14 pounds of marijuana
FALLON, Nev. (News 4 & Fox 11) —
A Nevada Highway Patrol traffic stop in Fallon led to a DUI arrest and the seizure of 14 pounds of marijuana, according to Trooper Matt McLaughlin.
During the afternoon hours of Wednesday, March 14, a trooper with NHP conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for speeding.
McLaughlin says the troopers observed signs of impairment while speaking to the driver and began an investigation.
The driver was arrested for driving under the influence.
During the course of the investigation -- police located 14 pounds of marijuana and an open container of alcohol inside the car. Troopers also located a missing pistol that was reported stolen out of Arizona.
The driver, a 19-year-old female and the passenger, a 20-year-old male, were arrested on related charges.
Additional charges are pending through the Churchill County District Attorney's Office.
