NHP: Dummy grenade prompts evacuation at Carson City Sheriff's Office
CARSON CITY, Nev. (News 4 & Fox 11) —
The Carson City Sheriff's Office has been evacuated after someone brought in what turned out to be a dummy grenade, according to Nevada Highway Patrol.
Authorities evacuated and waited for the bomb squad to arrive to the building on Musser Street, NHP said.
Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong told Carson Now that a man brought the grenade because he wasn't sure what to do with it and wanted to turn it in.
The bomb squad determined the grenade was drilled out, and an all clear signal was given.
Furlong said the man would not be in any trouble, but NHP has asked that anyone who discovers a grenade call 911 and not try handling it.
