Nevada senators reintroduce Yerington land bill

YERINGTON, Nev. (KRNV & MyNews4.com) -- Nevada Sens. Harry Reid and Dean Heller have reintroduced a bill that will allow the City of Yerington to develop land near a copper mine while setting aside a wilderness area.

The bill is designed to allow Yerington to buy from the federal government 19 square miles around Pumpkin Hollow, a copper mine being developed by Nevada Copper.

The proposed Wovoka Wilderness encompasses about 75 square miles of land between Smith Valley and Bridgeport, Calif. that officials say is culturally significant to Native Americans.
