Motorcycle crash closes U.S. 395 northbound off-ramp to McCarran Blvd.
RENO, Nev. (News 4 & Fox 11) —
A motorcyclist died after a collision with an ambulance Saturday on a highway overpass, according to Reno Police.
The collision between a motorcycle and REMSA ambulance was reported just before 11:20 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 21, on N. McCarran Boulevard over U.S. 395.
Sgt. Joe Lever with Reno Police said the motorcycle was heading west when it collided with the ambulance, which was entering the intersection of McCarran and the southbound 395 off-ramp.
The ambulance was responding to a call and had its lights and sirens activated, according to Lever.
The motorcyclist, identified as a 50-year-old man, was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead. An identity is being withheld pending the notification of family.
The Major Accident Investigation Team is investigating the crash, Lever said, and authorities do not suspect speed or impairment were factors.
