Man investigated for treatment of horses he bought from BLM

RENO, Nev. (KRNV & MyNews4.com) -- Colorado man Tom Davis is under investigation for his handling of wild horses he purchased from the Bureau of Land Management.

Colorado Department of Agriculture's Brand Commissioner Chris Whitney confirmed to News 4 he spoke to Davis a week ago. Whitney says Davis did transport horses out of state without getting a brand inspection, which is against state law. BLM records show Davis has purchased more than 1,700 horses from the BLM since 2009, and the current location of those horses is in question. This is a state investigation that does not affect another investigation the BLM is also conducting on their own.
