Local law enforcement agencies host 4th symposium on community and policing
RENO, Nev. (News 4 & Fox 11) —
Community and religious leaders from around the Truckee Meadows will join local law enforcement agencies to discuss building a stronger collaboration between the community and police.
The symposium will be held on Friday, April 28 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Boys and Girls Club of Truckee Meadows at 2980 E. 9th St. in Reno.
The two-hour event will begin with an initial welcome and introduction of the discussion topics and an overview of changes in local law enforcement from previous symposiums.
The introduction will be followed by three breakout tables at which the public may ask community leaders and law enforcement questions. The three topics will include mental health & policing, immigration & refugees, and use of force.
Agencies participating in the symposium include the Reno Police Department, Sparks Police Department, Washoe County Sheriff's Office, UNR Police, Nevada Highway Patrol, Washoe County School Police, Washoe County District Attorney's Office and the local FBI office.
