Jefferson gets Mountain West Player of the Week honors for third time

RENO, Nev. (KRNV & -- Stefphon Jefferson (Nevada) is one of the Mountain West Players of the Week for games through Oct. 13. Jefferson earns Offensive Player of the Week honors. This marks the third career MW weekly accolade for Jefferson.

The Nevada Athletics Dept. says junior running back Stefphon Jefferson rushed for 185 yards and three touchdowns as Nevada rallied from a 21-0 deficit to defeat in-state rival UNLV, 42-37, in Las Vegas. The Visalia, Calif., native had touchdown runs of four and one yards in the first half and his three-yard scoring run in the fourth quarter brought Nevada to within one score at 31-28. Jefferson carried the ball 34 times, averaging 5.4 yards per attempt. Jefferson's performance on Saturday propelled him to the top of the NCAA's rushing chart with a 162.86 average this season.
