President Donald Trump spoke to a group of veterans at the American Legion Conference at the Reno Sparks Convention Center on Aug. 23, but how much did the extra staffing cost the Reno Police Department?

The answer: approximately $19,100 in overtime. That number might seem alarming, however, Chief of Police Jason Soto says that it is no different than previous presidential visits.

There were roughly 100 officers working the event in total: 50 inside, 50 outside with assistance from the Sparks Police Department and the Carson City Sheriff's Office.

Protesters and supporters gathered outside the convention center during the president's visit, but things remained peaceful. Soto says there were no arrests made and no incidents occurred.
