Groundbreaking starts work on 22-classroom addition to Damonte Ranch HS
RENO, Nev. (News 4 & Fox 11) —
School officials held a groundbreaking Thursday for a classroom addition to Damonte Ranch High School in south Reno.
The Washoe County School District had identified Damonte Ranch as one of its fastest-growing and most overcrowded schools.
The addition will bring 22 new classrooms and space for labs and special education once completed.
It's the first capital improvement project funded by the Washoe County Question 1 ballot measure, which raised the county sales tax to fund repairs and new projects.
Officials say they expect construction to be completed in the 2017-18 school year.
