German court deems Internet as essential as fridge, car

MAINZ, Germany (KRNV, & NBC) -- NBC News is reporting a German court has deemed Internet as necessary as a fridge or a car. This means that Germans can now demand compensation from service providers if Internet access is interrupted.

NBC says the court made the ruling after hearing the case of a man who was unable to use his high-speed Internet connection for two months, which included his telephone service.He had already been compensated for the cost of having to use a cell phone, but wanted to be compensated for not being able to use the Internet. Under German law, the loss of use of essential material items can be compensated.
