Police: 21-year-old Reno resident dies after rollover in Stead
RENO, Nev. (News 4 & Fox 11) —
A 21-year-old has died after a single-vehicle rollover in north Reno early Wednesday morning, according to Reno police.
Sgt. Joe Lever says that police and emergency personnel responded to the area of Silver Sky Pkwy. and Long River Dr. in Stead on the report of a single-vehicle crash.
When they arrived on the scene, they discovered a vehicle on its side that had left the roadway. The vehicle was occupied by three people at the time of the crash.
The 21-year-old driver was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Lever.
One passenger was treated for non-life threatening injuries at a local hospital and the other passenger was not injured.
The Reno Police Department's Major Accident Investigation Team is investigating the crash.
Lever says initial investigations reveal the vehicle may have been going at a high-rate of speed when it lost control and ultimately left the roadway.
Alcohol also appears to be a factor.
The name of the driver will not be released until next of kin has been notified.Anyone having information relating to this incident should contact the Reno Police Department at 334-2115, Secret Witness at 322-4900, www.secretwitness,com, or text the tip to 847411 (TIP 411) keyword - SW
