Marvin Moss Teacher Named Excellence in Education Award Winner

Sparks, Nev. (My & KRNV)--- From the casino to the classroom you could say a 5th grade teacher hit the jackpot with his change of occupation 16 years ago.

This month he is News Four's Excellence in Education Award Winner!

Recently evening anchor Shelby Sheehan surprised Marvin Moss teacher Richard Eggers with the award during a school assembly.

Eggers has been teaching elementary school for 16 years since he left the casino industry.

Colleagues say he is always incorporating new ideas into his classroom, pushing his students to always be their very best.

Eggers says he loves that every day is different with his students.

He wants to ensure they feel excited about learning and safe in his class.

His own experience years ago motivated him to go into education as a profession.

" My elementary school years were difficult and I didn't want that to happen to any other kids, I just love kids and I love working with them and seeing when the light bulb goes off."

Congratulations to Richard Eggers, News Four's Excellence in Education Award winner for the month of February!
